PerfectScale launches SaaS tool for Kubernetes performance and cost optimization

PerfectScale Inc. announced the general availability of its continuous optimization platform for Kubernetes today, giving companies a new option to automate the stability of their information technology environments.

The software-as-a-service platform is aimed at companies that manage distributed, large-scale Kubernetes environments, which are used to manage modern, containerized applications. As PerfectScale explains, optimizing these environments is a complex, manual and time-consuming task that’s necessary to avoid spiraling cloud costs and application performance issues.

To ease these headaches, PerfectScale provides tools that allow teams to optimize the performance of hundreds of Kubernetes clusters that serve as the foundation of their most critical applications. Its software employs sophisticated, artificial intelligence-based algorithms that help evaluate usage patterns and performance and cost metrics, enabling it to optimize their environments continuously to ensure stability and resilience at the lowest possible cost.

PerfectScale co-founder and Chief Executive Amir Banet (pictured, left, alongside Director of Marketing Brendan Cooper), says cost optimization and system resilience are two of the biggest priorities for any company that relies on Kubernetes to power their applications. “Ineffectively allocating Kubernetes resources may cause performance and overspending problems today, and the problems will persist and get exponentially worse as the application scales,” he explained. “Our mission at PerfectScale is to help organizations get the most out of Kubernetes in an effortless manner by continuously and automatically optimizing each layer of the K8s stack.”

PerfectScale says its platform can support any flavor of Kubernetes, including Amazon Web Services Inc.’s EKS, Google LLC’s GKE, Microsoft Corp.’s Azure AKS and bare-metal deployments that have no operating software installed on the servers. Its main features include resiliency risk detection to eliminate issues that may affect the performance of Kubernetes clusters, waste detection to eliminate unnecessary cloud costs and issue prioritization, to identify and remediate the most pressing issues. It also provides analysis tools that help teams to better understand how system changes will impact their Kubernetes environments’ cost-effectiveness and durability, plus reports that track optimization progress.

The platform became available in beta test last October and has been well received by early adopters. Solidus Labs, a cryptocurrency startup, said it was able to significantly reduce its cloud costs using PerfectScale’s platform.

“We have many clients, each using our application slightly differently,” said Ben Hoffman, R&D Director of Solidus Labs.”Keeping our Kubernetes environment optimized is essential for Solidus Labs to ensure our applications have the resources they need to support our customers today, and as our company continues to grow in the future. PerfectScale saved us a lot of analysis and troubleshooting time, and made it easy to continuously maintain our system’s health and cost-effectiveness”
