Domain name service threat protection and content filtering company DNSFilter Inc. and security service edge startup Banyan Security today announced a new partnership and creation of a new joint solution to simplify how modern enterprises achieve zero-trust security.

The joint solution combines DNSFilter’s advanced threat detection and content filtering technology with Banyan Security’s remote access platform. DNSFilter provides Domain Name System security powered by machine learning and Banyan Security delivers secure remote access that continuously enforces trust-based policies based on any combination of user, device and application contexts.

Together, the DNSFilter and Banyan Security joint solution is said to help modern enterprises provide the least privileged access to applications and services across hybrid and multicloud infrastructures. The joint solution also simultaneously protects users from phishing, malware and other internet-based cyber threats, the companies say.

“We often hear from customers that they need to seamlessly protect employees from an ever-increasing number of internet threats,” Jayanth Gummaraju, co-founder and chief executive of Banyan Security, said in a statement. “It’s unacceptable to risk business continuity due to users being phished, having malware deployed, or worse, suffering business interruption and financial loss resulting from a ransomware attack. That’s why the integration makes so much sense and we’re eager to grow our relationship with DNSFilter.”

“The demand for our DNS-layer threat protection has skyrocketed over the past few years,” added Dave Raphael, chief product officer of DNSFilter. “The Banyan Security partnership is a logical next step to help our customers secure their organizations beyond internet threats with zero trust access to applications and resources, regardless of location.”

Banyan Security is a venture capital-backed startup that has raised $47.3 million to date, according to Crunchbase, including rounds in October last year and November 2019. Investors include Shasta Ventures LLC, Unusual Ventures L.P., Fin Capital LLC and M13 Ventures Inc.

DNSFilter is also VC-backed and has raised a similar amount: $46.4 million, according to Crunchbase, from investors that include Techstars Central LLC, Insight Partners Management LLC and Bigfoot Capital LLC.
