Staying one step ahead in the realm of cybersecurity is imperative, especially with the rapid pace of the development of cyberthreats.
CrowdStrike Holdings Inc., a leading provider in the security industry, took center stage with a number of announcements at this week’s Fal.Con event. The company’s latest innovations hold the promise of reshaping the landscape of cybersecurity.
“We’ve just had some absolutely massive releases and announcements the last two days,” said Elia Zaitsev (pictured), chief technology officer of CrowdStrike. “These are things that I’ve been thinking about and we’ve been working on here at the company for years. Our customers have been asking for it … it’s just been incredible.”
Zaitsev spoke with theCUBE industry analysts Dave Vellante and Lisa Martin at the Fal.Con event, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed the evolution of CrowdStrike and some of the company’s recent innovations, such as Charlotte AI. (* Disclosure below.)
With over 10 years of experience at the company, Zaitsev has witnessed its evolution from its early days as an endpoint detection and response-only platform to a comprehensive cybersecurity solution.
“We were, at first, EDR-only. Then we added next-gen antivirus. We started building additional modules onto the platform. And here we are today,” Zaitsev said. “We just announced our big Raptor upgrade, which frankly I think is the biggest update to the platform since we first added next-gen antivirus years ago.”
The Raptor upgrade to Falcon is designed to modernize and supercharge the CrowdStrike platform, according to Zaitsev. This means that users can now integrate external data sources, breaking down data silos and providing a more comprehensive view of their security landscape.
“It opens it up so that customers can now bring in whatever data they want into the platform,” he explained. “It also unlocks a lot for our customers. They can now take advantage of Charlotte, our generative AI assistant. And it’s going to bring XDR capabilities for all of our customers as well.”
Another groundbreaking addition is Charlotte, CrowdStrike’s generative AI assistant. Charlotte is not just an AI chatbot. It’s a tool that can significantly enhance the productivity of security operation center analysts, according to Zaitsev.
One of Charlotte’s key features is its ability to assist analysts in transitioning from traditional alert-based workflows to incident-focused workflows. This shift from alerts to incidents will be a game changer for security professionals, he added.
“The chat interface is one of the big ones where they can have a conversation with the Charlotte AI system to rapidly automate a lot of capabilities that in the past would be very manual,” Zaitsev said. “This is a big shift, going from alerts to incidents, that I’m very excited about. I think it’s going to be a game changer for the users.”
In the rapidly evolving field of cybersecurity, generative systems such as Charlotte are poised to become even more powerful. These systems will become increasingly predictive as they gain a deeper understanding of platforms, threat landscapes and user needs.
CrowdStrike continues to be one of the leaders in cybersecurity innovation, and Zaitsev’s insights into the Raptor upgrade and Charlotte AI offer a glimpse into the exciting developments shaping the future of cybersecurity.
“I think we’re going to move rapidly into this world where these generative systems will become more predictive,” Zaitsev said. “Maybe it’s not that far away.”
