Modernizing the digital-first multicloud world

Current innovation and enterprise strategy centers on embracing a digital-first, multicloud approach in the dynamic tech landscape.

This has led to the rise of multicloud security challenges from integration gaps, necessitating direct action. In response to this, customers are seeking AI-driven frameworks for seamless collaboration and integration across diverse cloud platforms.

“As the clouds diverge with the investments they’re all making, the opportunity to truly leverage the best of each of the vendor partners we have, to get lower economies, faster agility and really start addressing the needs of GenAI and other operational requirements, that’s the real opportunity,” said Sunil Bhargava (pictured) senior vice president of offerings at Kyndryl Inc.

Bhargava spoke with theCUBE industry analysts John Furrier and Dave Vallente at VMware Explore 2023, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed deliberate multicloud adoption and the need for data analysis on multicloud platforms. (* Disclosure below)

Cultural shift and a parallel approach

The market demands assistance in understanding and utilizing complex technologies. Businesses are seeking a gradual approach to overcoming barriers and encouraging cultural shifts. Their focus is on delivering benefits rather than waiting for a perfect solution. IT services are evolving to integrate development, security and operations with commercial off-the-shelf applications aiming to maximize value.

Modernizing an application portfolio based on these new developments then includes handling the issue of data and data organization, said. The question then arises whether these efforts should be pursued in parallel or sequentially. It is crucial to thoroughly evaluate how these elements intersect and influence one another to devise an effective strategy for overall success, said Bhargava.

“Strategy has to be done in parallel. Execution can be serialized and sometimes it needs to be, but strategies always need to be done in parallel, so that you’re not coming back to revisit decisions you made,” he added. “Because of the highly iterative ways delivery happens now, execution, not just serialized, but sometimes leading, sometimes trailing, we do see that happening as well.”
