Google Workspace’s latest AI enhancements and Google Vids debut at Google Cloud Next
Among the most intriguing announcements at Google Cloud Next involved Workspace being updated with Google Vids, an AI-powered video service. The service will provide users with a video writer, producer and editing assistant and allow them to create videos with a simple prompt.
There were also various interesting new features announced for Google Slides and Google Sheets, according to Michael Brenzel (pictured), chief Workspace evangelist at Google Cloud.
“Now, you realize it’s much more interactive — it makes it much more exciting for you to work and handle data, and even spreadsheets,” Brenzel said. “This was just a few of the things we announced today, which we are quite proud of.”
Brenzel spoke with theCUBE Research analysts John Furrier, Rebecca Knight and Savannah Peterson at Google Cloud Next 2024, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed the latest announcements from Google Cloud Next and the future potential of Google Workspace. (* Disclosure below.)
Google Workspace unleashes the power of Gemini
Last year, Google made a number of announcements that took some time to become available. But exciting new initiatives are emerging now, according to Brenzel.
“After being able just to create images out of a prompt, which we had in Google Slides for a couple of months already now, with doing even videos and making it more interactive, gen AI helps you create more content, makes it more interesting and I think more active, no matter what you produce, what content you do,” he said.
Much emphasis has been placed during Google Cloud Next on the ecosystem. It’s important for Google Cloud to have its partners working and supporting Workspace, according to Brenzel.
“We’ve seen also a lot of interest and more interest from partners to start offering selling Workspace big,” he said. “Everybody’s trying out … Gmail here, not just with that good old … creating emails. They want to see how Gemini is working.”
Adding Gemini to Google Workspace has created a lot more interest, according to Brenzel. That interest has come from those looking to roll it out and sell it to more customers, “not just last year, also just today, to use it in their day-to-day business,” he said.
Companies have told Google that they have given access to Gemini now to different departments, according to Brenzel. It has led to projects being completed in new and different ways.
“Even adding then, let’s say, the features in Google Meet to have, let’s say, studio lighting and better quality around or the audio features that are coming up as well soon that make it available, much more convenient for people having video calls, better quality of understanding, etc. So, people love the features,” he said.
There’s more to come for Google Workspace. As soon as everybody has the chance to experience the features announced this week, many things will change, according to Brenzel.
“I’m looking forward to seeing a lot of customers, or even prospective customers, getting their hands on the new Google Workspace Gemini features that we announced today, or in the last couple of months, to get to see what’s possible in using it and to change how they collaborate in the future,” he said.
