There’s no question that the multicloud landscape has been growing ever more complex. In this new era, Gartner Inc. has noted that executives must balance the flexibility of technology options offered by a multicloud strategy against its greater complexity and increased costs, and solutions such as the Dell APEX Red Hat OpenShift collaboration have begun to emerge.

Over the past number of months, Dell Technologies Inc. has sought to further its Dell APEX multicloud strategy. That will continue to play out in the future, according to Rob Strechay, principal analyst at theCUBE Research.

“As Dell gets closer with their partners, such as Red Hat OpenShift, it’s not just about co-marketing, but really about deep integration with a focus on delivering APEX Cloud Platform, a simple product to install and operate,” he said. “I expect organizations will gain a deeper understanding of this simplicity and how it meets their cloud-native operating needs, such as those for building AI-enabled applications.”

That focus will be a key area of interest during the “Build Now and for the Future With Dell and Red Hat”  event on September 12. The event will also be an opportunity to learn more about use cases from Dell APEX and Red Hat’s efforts in advancing container technologies in the enterprise AI era.

Charting the path forward: Dell APEX Red Hat OpenShift collaboration

Dell Technologies has been on a mission to become even more agile in the world of hybrid cloud management, doubling down on its multicloud strategy and AI-driven solutions. In recent months, Jeff Clarke, Dell’s vice chairman and chief operating officer, has suggested that “no company is better positioned than Dell to bring AI to the enterprise.” Analysts have also been watching the growth picture around the company closely.

“The good news is that Dell is becoming less dependent on storage and less dependent on its consumer business. These are good trends, and as infrastructure closes the gap with client solutions, it will give the company a better balance overall,” Constellation Research Inc. analyst Holger Mueller said in May.

Over the past year, Dell has been focused on rolling out strategic partnerships and new developments tied to its Dell APEX Red Hat OpenShift collaboration. The work done with Red Hat Inc. has sought to simplify the on-premises operation of Red Hat OpenShift instances with Kubernetes.

“It’s an appliance model that was collaboratively built with Dell and Red Hat to simplify the process of running OpenShift on-premises,” said Michael Wells, engineering technologist, Microsoft Azure MVP, at Dell Technologies. “It gives you the ability to run bare metal so that you can take advantage of all of the features and capabilities within OpenShift, but it allows you to stand it up much faster and it simplifies the life cycle management of OpenShift itself.”

The company has also sought to revolutionize data centers with AI integration and to enhance business efficiency and innovation with its advanced AI infrastructure. When it comes to the company’s thought process with its APEX Cloud Platform family, the number one problem being faced is that customers are facing more and more operational complexity due to multicloud, according to Sudhir Srinivasan, senior vice president of multicloud and data solutions at Dell.

“We’ve taken a holistic approach to multicloud that really simplifies operations across cloud, on-prem, edge, wherever. The trick is how to deliver that consistency at all layers of the stack, all the way from infrastructure all the way up to the application layer,” Srinivasan told theCUBE last October.
