The information technology consultancy Kyndryl Holdings Inc. said today it’s ready to help enterprises deploy artificial intelligence in private cloud environments, where it can tap into their most sensitive data.
The company has just announced the launch of its AI Private Cloud services, lending its expertise to help customers design and deploy “enterprise-grade AI solutions” that will meet the most stringent regulatory requirements. It will provide “broad consulting services” to help customers launch their AI projects, including the identification of high-return use cases, the design and building of prototypes, and help moving deployments into production.
It says it’s targeting enterprises in regulated industries that are eager to adopt AI but may be unsure how to proceed. For instance, the financial services industry is looking to leverage AI to enhance data security, risk management, fraud detection and customer experiences. Meanwhile, healthcare companies want to use AI on sensitive patient data to improve diagnostics and deliver more personalized treatment. Beyond these industries, it says it can help any kind of company that’s concerned about data privacy.
The best way to protect AI-related data is to host AI applications in private cloud environments, where all of the resources are only accessible to the customer. But setting up these private cloud environments and designing and developing cutting-edge AI applications to run within them is a whole lot of trouble, requiring significant expertise.
It has plenty of data to back up this assertion. In one recent study, it found that 86% of enterprise leaders are confident in their AI implementations in terms of their performance, but just 29% of those respondents say their applications and systems are ready to manage future risks.
Kyndryl, which already offers a range of specialist AI consulting services, said its AI Private Cloud offering will make a big difference in this area. It will encompass the use of technologies including containerization, data science and microservices, as well as services for managing private cloud environments, helping customers to create a cohesive and integrated AI environment, the company said. It will also advise customers on the best private cloud deployment options to suit their business goals.
In every deployment, the priority will be to optimize data infrastructure with “sovereign and compliant attributes” and ensure “robust data privacy measures” are in place, giving businesses full control over their data to achieve regulatory compliance.
One advantage, Kyndryl said, is that it has extremely close ties with multiple major players in the AI ecosystem, including the chipmaker Nvidia Corp. This means it can combine its AI data foundations, machine learning operations and large language model operations services with tools such as Nvidia’s AI Enterprise suite, providing customers with everything they need to manage their AI data pipelines and application operations.
Its partnerships will also enable “accelerated AI development,” where trained models can use their learned patterns to make predictions and solve tasks in different applications, using new, previously unseen data.
The consulting firm explained that today’s offering stems from an ongoing collaboration with Nvidia, which aims to help enterprises take advantage of emerging private cloud capabilities around the globe. For instance, it cites the recent launch of a new AI Private Cloud offering in Japan from Dell Technologies Inc. and Nvidia.
Kyndryl’s global cloud practice leader Nicolas Sekkaki said enterprises are clamoring for a simplified yet reliable approach to creating and implementing high-performance AI workloads in private cloud environments.
“Our AI Private Cloud capabilities expand our portfolio of services that can support applications and solutions running across private and public environments and will deliver enhanced efficiency, reduced costs and time-to-market, improved productivity and better user experiences,” he added.
