Recorded Future launches Malware Intelligence to automate malware detection and response

Threat intelligence firm Recorded Future Inc. today announced the launch of Malware Intelligence, a new platform designed to automate the detection of emerging malware threats, speed up threat hunting and streamline incident response.

The new platform connects malware samples to threat actor infrastructure, attack patterns and the global threat landscape to deliver real-time insights that are designed to allow security teams to stay ahead of fast-moving threats with greater speed, context and precision.

Malware Intelligence has been created to assist in dealing with attackers who are rapidly weaponizing artificial intelligence and automation to modify malware at scale. Recorded Future argues that traditional defenses are falling behind, with over 70 ransomware variants emerging in late 2024 alone.

Malware Intelligence counters the rise of AI-driven ransomware with AI-driven detection that identifies over 1.5 million unique malware samples daily and combines AutoYARA. That’s a Recorded Future feature that automatically generates YARA rules, plain English querying and dynamic analysis to match or surpass expert-level human analysts.

According to Recorded Future, Malware Intelligence is also the first system of its kind to pass the Malware Turing Test. The test, created by Record Future, tests whether an AI system’s ability to detect, analyze and classify malware matches or surpasses that of expert human analysts.

Under the hood, Malware Intelligence is powered by the Recorded Future Intelligence Graph and over 15 years of adversary data. The platform connects malware samples to threat actors, infrastructure and vulnerabilities, automating detection and revealing how threats fit into broader campaigns.

“Malware is evolving at an unprecedented rate, with attackers leveraging automation and AI to create new variants faster than traditional security measures can keep up,” said Vice President of Product Jamie Zajac. “Security teams need more than just isolated detection — they need intelligence that connects malware to its broader context.”

“Malware Intelligence provides automated detection engineering, real-time malware tracking and rapid response capabilities, ensuring defenders can stay ahead of emerging threats with speed and precision,” added Zajac.

Malware Intelligence is now available to purchase to all current and prospective Recorded Future customers.

Recorded Future has been owned by Mastercard Inc. since December, after a deal to acquire the company for $2.65 billion was announced in September.
