As enterprises shift toward AI-powered platforms and containerized environments, the demand for smart infrastructure that can handle dynamic application workloads is growing. The era of monolithic, reactive storage is giving way to data-aware systems that can align with the pace of modern development cycles — reducing friction, simplifying operations and optimizing performance from Day 0 to Day 2 and beyond.
In a landscape defined by talent gaps, hybrid complexity and the rising cadence of code releases, Tintri is positioning itself as a force multiplier for lean infrastructure teams. Its intelligent, application-aware approach to storage design enables customers to manage both hypervisor and container environments on a single platform — with native object tracking, delta updates and real-time observability baked in, according to Phil Trickovic (pictured), senior vice president of revenue at Tintri by DDN Inc.
Tintri’s Phil Trickovic talks about smart infrastructure.
“We remove those obstacles day one out of the gate,” Trickovic said. “[Our platform] is aware of what you are doing, it’s aware of the objects that you’re placing … it can become a very integral part of your CI/CD workload.”
Trickovic spoke with theCUBE’s Paul Nashawaty at theCUBE Research’s AppDev Done Right Summit, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed how Tintri delivers smart infrastructure solutions that simplify hybrid, AI-powered and containerized application environments by providing object-aware, automated storage capabilities. (* Disclosure below.)
Tintri’s architecture was purpose-built to support data operations at the object level — making it well suited for organizations adopting both Kubernetes environments and AI-driven workflows. That design choice allows it to scale in real-time, reduce costs and eliminate legacy constraints around RAID sets and manual backup routines, Trickovic explained.
“What was Tintri? In a weird way we were very lucky because we were designed for object awareness at the lowest level that is extended into what you’re doing with containers,” he said. “That’s required to do any of this at scale and at an expense that’s tolerable and actually profitable for businesses to deploy.”
That awareness translates directly to business outcomes. One Tintri customer — one of the world’s largest AI companies — leverages the platform to operate a massive integrated development environment where millions of objects must be tracked, versioned and secured. Tintri’s ability to manage this scale without manual intervention exemplifies the value of platform-aware smart infrastructure, according to Trickovic.
“Everything that is produced for those types of environments requires very in-depth object tracking, change tracking, security, who’s touching what, where’s it going,” he added. “It’s thousands and thousands and thousands and thousands and millions of objects cannot be managed in a legacy manner or by an individual person — it’s that large.”
Looking ahead, Tintri is extending its capabilities through a new OEM partnership with Platform9 Systems Inc. aimed at simplifying migrations off VMware and enabling hybrid container and hypervisor deployments. That integration underscores Tintri’s focus on reducing analysis paralysis for decision-makers navigating AI infrastructure choices.
“Here’s an exclusive because it hasn’t been announced yet,” Trickovic said. “We just finished signing a deal with [Platform9] to be OEM provider for Plat9, as well as to support their existing customers. Plat9 is leading the charge and actually the tech behind being able to migrate simply off of VMware if that’s what the customer wants to do.”
