Skills assessment and experiential learning platform company CodeSignal Inc. today announced the launch of Cosmo, a mobile learning app that aims to turn spare minutes into career-ready skills.
At launch, Cosmo includes more than 60 learning paths and more than 300 swipe-through micro-courses across artificial intelligence, marketing, coding, finance and leadership, among others. The new service launches on iOS, with an Android version scheduled to be released Aug. 28.
Cosmo offers hands-on learning from the first tap, with exercises designed to mirror real workplace tasks. A session might involve writing a generative AI prompt, debugging a short Python script or tuning an ad headline.
For those seeking to expand their knowledge, the app includes a built-in tutor who answers questions in real time, provides encouragement and helps users move past obstacles. Users can also unlock shareable certificates after completing tracks, which can be used to demonstrate skills and training to recruiters or managers.
Training apps are hardly new, but CodeSignal argues that Cosmo stands out because it is grounded in hiring data, drawing on millions of assessments delivered across more than 3,000 companies. The depth of knowledge provided by Cosmo is designed to ensure that content is tied to the kinds of tasks and workflows that hiring managers expect, particularly around AI fluency and similarly high-demand skills.
In pre-release testing, CodeSignal claims users have described Cosmo as “Duolingo for job skills” and have praised the app for its convenience for coding practice and its ability to keep learners engaged through short, interactive lessons. Initial reactions highlight the app’s appeal to both career starters and professionals looking to upskill on the go.
Cosmo is available to download for free in the Apple App Store, with premium subscriptions offering unlimited practice sessions and faster course progression. Pre-registration for Android is open now on Google Play ahead of its Aug. 28 launch.
