What to expect during an Encore Presentation of the Data Protection & AI Summit: Join theCUBE Sept. 3-4

Organizations today face a perfect storm as data volumes surge and cyber threats intensify alongside the rise of AI. At the center of this challenge is a simple truth: AI cannot deliver on its promise without trusted and resilient data that is properly governed and protected.

The convergence of rising data volumes, intensifying cyber threats and accelerating AI adoption will be a central focus during an encore presentation of the Data Protection & AI Summit on Sept. 3 and 4. The summit revealed valuable insights into the future of AI and data protection, according to Christophe Bertrand, principal analyst at theCUBE Research.

“There are really two sides to the coin: how to protect the nascent AI infrastructure with existing or protection tools and how should data protection vendors leverage AI and ML in their solutions against a backdrop of constant cyberattacks, sometimes fueled by AI,” he said. “These are the topics we are exploring in this summit.”

The event included discussions around advancements in AI-driven backup automation, resilient data and agentic system safeguards. Don’t miss the encore presentation of the Data Protection & AI Summit from theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. (* Disclosure below.)

Exploring resilient data and AI infrastructure

In this new era, data protection and AI are intertwined. With so much investment going into AI infrastructure, having a robust set of data protection tools and technologies has never been so critical, according to Bertrand.

“Interestingly, these vendors also have to demonstrate how they are leveraging AI to their advantage, in their solutions,” he said.

Today, the vast majority of proprietary enterprise data remains unused, and an even smaller portion makes its way into AI projects, according to theCUBE Research’s Scott Hebner. A closer look at AI projects shows that much of the data goes unused because organizations are unsure how to protect it.

“It’s a risk assessment. So, the data’s there, but it’s not ready to be used for AI,” Hebner said. “We estimate some 95% of an enterprise’s data is just simply not ready. Protection’s a big part of that.”

The encore presentation will include discussion around how resilient data protection, compliance and governance are becoming essential design requirements for AI systems. Sessions will also highlight how AI itself can strengthen cyber resilience and improve recovery capabilities against increasingly sophisticated threats.

“We get essentially a perfect storm here for a lot of organizations trying to really think about AI, and that’s why we have this summit,” Bertrand said. “We believe that data protection is a fundamental stone or foundational stone to being able to build an infrastructure that is AI-friendly, AI-compliant and AI-resilient.”
