Syncro Cloud Backup targets rising risks in Microsoft 365 and Entra ID
Managed service provider and information technology management platform company Syncro today launched Syncro Cloud Backup, an integrated backup and restore solution for Microsoft 365 and Entra ID.
The new offering builds on Syncro’s extended monitoring and management’s automated configuration, security baseline management and compliance monitoring. The aim is to help MSPs and IT teams protect users and identities and ensure rapid recovery from data loss or identity threats.
The solution seeks to address the issue wherein, as organizations rely more on Entra ID and Microsoft 365, the risk of data loss has become significant. An International Data Corp. report referenced by Syncro suggests that more than 40% of organizations experienced an unrecoverable data loss event within a software-as-a-service application in the past 12 months, with identity systems, such as Microsoft Entra ID, being frequent attack targets.
Syncro argues that without protection, a single misstep or cyberattack can cripple access and security. Syncro Cloud Backup allows rapid restoration of roles, policies and permissions with just a few clicks.
“Entra ID is the digital backbone of your business identity and if it’s compromised in a cyberattack, your entire organization is at risk,” explains Jay McBain, chief analyst at Canalys. “That’s why securing, backing up and ensuring rapid recovery of Entra ID isn’t optional; it’s one of the most critical steps any company can take to recover from a breach.”
Cloud Backup provides unified management across both Microsoft Entra ID and Microsoft 365 and allows MSPs to configure and restore backups for core identity infrastructure, including users, groups, roles, and policies.
When a breach occurs, Cloud Backup offers rapid restore capabilities with support for granular recovery options, ranging from a single file or email to a full Entra ID configuration.
On the security and compliance side, data is encrypted and stored in Azure data centers located in the U.S. and Canada, helping organizations meet cyber insurance and regulatory requirements and the service includes automation and compliance features that are designed to simplify operations and strengthen security.
Syncro Cloud Backup is now available in early access, with a 14-day free trial. General availability is expected on Oct. 1.
