Building future-fit organizations through an AI-first mindset

An AI-first approach is no longer optional — it’s becoming the default strategy for companies aiming to thrive in the intelligent economy. Rather than treating AI as a supporting tool, this mindset embeds intelligence into every layer of business, from design to delivery.

Infosys Ltd. is embracing that shift by weaving AI into daily operations, where automation, human expertise and data-driven insights work hand in hand. Through its Infosys Topaz platform, the company is scaling generative AI and related technologies to help enterprises build smarter workflows, accelerate decision-making and unlock new sources of value in a constantly evolving digital landscape, according to Nishant Khare (pictured, right), AVP and head of Infosys Topaz for the Americas.

Infosys’s Vivek Sinha and Nishant Khare talk with theCUBE about the core of an AI-first approach.

“Infosys Topaz is our AI practice,” Khare said. “We wanted to do this to ourselves, learn from that and then get to go to customers with that learning enforced. We looked at all the business functions, be it marketing, sales, our education function. All of that we are trying to reimagine again to see how we could do it in an AI-first manner. We have created several tools and accelerators internally … we are utilizing some of the market products like UiPath and Microsoft Office 365 Copilot and others.”

Khare and Vivek Sinha (left), global head of sales, AI and automation at Infosys, spoke with theCUBE’s Rebecca Knight and Dave Vellante at UiPath Fusion, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed why an AI-first approach is critical and how Infosys is at the forefront of making it a reality. (* Disclosure below.)

Infosys Topaz: Driving AI-first approach across business

Infosys Topaz drives an AI-first approach by embedding AI into business processes, technology systems and decision-making to boost efficiency, innovation and scalability. By uniting automation, generative AI, data intelligence and human-centric empowerment, it enables organizations to accelerate transformation and achieve greater impact, according to Sinha.

“I globally head AI and automation for all verticals,” he said. “Topaz is the accumulation of all of those learnings from those use cases across manufacturing, banking and other industries. It is the sum of all of our learnings from building out infrastructure, building out use cases, building out talent to deploy for agentic AI work.”

Adapting to AI’s rapid, unpredictable evolution is critical for building a future-fit organization. As AI outpaces traditional business cycles, companies that embrace agility, continuous learning and innovation can unlock opportunities, manage risks and maintain a competitive edge. In contrast, those slow to adapt risk irrelevance in a market where AI-driven capabilities define success, Khare pointed out.

“You are not able to, right now, predict the pace,” he said. “Today you think, ‘Okay, agentic is the hero, tomorrow something else can come in.’ We in fact have a theme internally, we call it a future-fit organization, where we recommend the organizations to always be in an adaptive mode. They’ll have to evolve, adapt with whatever is coming their way and be more proactive.”

The foundry factory model strengthens an AI-first approach by moving AI projects beyond experimentation into scalable, repeatable processes embedded across enterprise operations. This accelerates innovation, drives adoption at scale and unlocks greater business value, Khare explained.

“As part of the future-fit organization, what we also recommend to our customers is to have a foundry factory method, wherein the foundry is looking at all the new things that are coming in, testing them out, testing those solutions and proving those solutions,” he added. “The factory is using only the proven solutions and starting to take that at a scale for the company. That way you know what is coming your way, what is proven. When you do the pilots using those proven solutions, then it can make it to the production.”
