Bubble launches AI agent to merge conversational coding with visual app building

Artificial intelligence visual development platform company Bubble Group Inc. today announced the launch of Bubble AI Agent, a new product that allows users to build production-grade applications by dragging and dropping elements in the platform’s editor or making changes conversationally.

Bubble AI Agent seeks to address key challenges that builders face when using AI coding tools for production applications. The company argues that current AI coding platforms have significant limitations around editability, code quality, security and reliability for end users. A recent survey of Bubble users found that only 9% use AI coding tools for business-critical applications, while 72% have concerns about security vulnerabilities in AI-generated code.

The new agent offering addresses the problem by combining the speed of AI-powered development with the precision and control of visual editing.

“Developers want the speed of AI code generation, but they can’t risk compromising the quality and security of their production applications,” said Emmanuel Straschnov, co-chief executive officer of Bubble. “Bubble AI Agent gives you both.”

Bubble AI Agent enables users to build applications through two complementary approaches: visual editing in Bubble’s editor offers complete control over design, backend logic and functionality, while conversation editing with Bubble AI Agent supports natural language prompts. Users can switch between both methods while maintaining full visibility and control over their application.

To celebrate the launch, Bubble has announced an AI hackathon in partnership with Anthropic PBC that offers $25,000 in prizes. The hackathon invites builders to experiment with Bubble AI Agent and showcase applications built using the combined power of AI prompting and visual editing.

Along with the launch of the Bubble AI Agent, the company also revealed several upcoming releases.

Expected later this year, a new Property Editor will feature enhanced design and integrated AI capabilities. Support for in-app purchases for mobile apps will be introduced and the Bubble Security Dashboard (formerly Flusk) will be integrated directly into the platform.

Bubble is a venture capital-backed startup that has raised $106 million over two rounds, including a round of $100 million in July 2021. Investors in the company include Insight Partners LP, SignalFire, Box Group, Third Kind Venture Capital and Neo Ventures.
