Inside the growing Oracle–Microsoft alliance reshaping enterprise AI data strategy

As artificial intelligence rapidly advances, AI-powered data solutions transform raw information into a strategic superpower — driving smarter decisions, accelerating operations and delivering deeply personalized customer experiences.

As markets grow more dynamic and consumer expectations surge, Microsoft Corp. and Oracle Corp. have strengthened their multicloud collaboration with AI-powered data solutions — led by Oracle Database@Azure and the Oracle AI Database, according to Nathan Thomas (pictured), vice president of product management at Oracle.

“We’re super committed to getting customers to be able to use the Oracle Database everywhere,” Thomas said. “We started with Microsoft over three years ago as our first multicloud partner through the Oracle Database@Azure offering, but that really provides the Oracle AI Database and Oracle Exadata on OCI in Microsoft data. We’ve had a great opportunity to support our joint customers by building out that infrastructure. We now have that Oracle AI Database in more than 30 Microsoft regions worldwide.”

Thomas spoke with theCUBE’s Rob Strechay during Microsoft Ignite, for an exclusive conversation on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed how Oracle and Microsoft’s partnership is turning AI-powered data solutions into enterprise-ready tools. (* Disclosure below.)

How Oracle and Microsoft are powering the next generation of AI-powered data solutions

Oracle Database and Microsoft Azure empower AI-powered data solutions by uniting Oracle’s high-performance data management with Azure’s scalable cloud and advanced AI ecosystem. This collaboration enables enterprises to securely store, process and operationalize data at scale — fueling intelligent decision-making and accelerating application modernization, according to Thomas.

“We’re talking to a lot of people who are looking to migrate and modernize their Oracle Database workloads into Microsoft Azure, and of course, the solution that we’ve built together really is critical for that,” he said. “Our solutions help play a role in really helping customers start to take advantage of AI by enabling them to use the Oracle AI Databases that have all of their most important private corporate data in them, and then leverage that with Azure, with OpenAI, with AI Foundry, with Copilot Studio.”

The seamless integration between Oracle Database and Microsoft Azure enables organizations to apply Azure’s AI capabilities directly to the sensitive, trusted data already stored in Oracle. The result is powerful, enterprise-grade AI insights and application modernization delivered securely and at scale while preserving governance and reliability, according to Thomas.

“Our customers really tell us that they want to see these things playing together,” he said. “They’re looking to innovate and build applications on top. Microsoft provides these leading services like Azure, OpenAI, the AI Foundry, Copilot Studio, and other AI services, and by combining those with the Oracle Database@Azure inside of Microsoft data centers, you’ve got low-latency, high-performance connectivity so that organizations can enable that application data access and analysis to happen.”
