Confidential artificial intelligence platform provider Opaque Systems Inc. today announced that it has raised $24 million in new funding on a $300 million valuation to accelerate the delivery of its platform.
Founded in 2021, Opaque offers infrastructure that is designed to address enterprise concerns about data privacy, model exposure and policy enforcement in artificial intelligence workflows.
The company offers what’s known as confidential AI, an approach that applies cryptographic techniques and hardware-backed protections to AI computation so that sensitive data can be processed without being exposed to underlying systems or operators. The platform supports organizations that need to run models and agents on proprietary or regulated data while maintaining verifiable governance controls.
Opaque’s platform combines confidential computing environments with cryptographic attestation mechanisms that provide proof of how data and models are handled at runtime. AI workloads are executed within protected enclaves that isolate memory and computation, limiting access to data during processing.
“AI won’t scale unless organizations can verify, not just assume, that their data and models are protected,” said Chief Executive Aaron Fulkerson. “Confidential AI closes the trust gap by delivering runtime proof that data stayed private during computation, model weights were never exposed, and policies were enforced exactly as written.”
Key capabilities of Opaque’s platform include policy definition and enforcement, audit logging and model integrity controls integrated into AI development and deployment workflows.
One of the company’s offerings, Opaque Studio, provides a development environment for building and deploying AI agents with embedded privacy and compliance checks. The platform supports governance before, during and after runtime by validating configurations, monitoring execution conditions and recording cryptographic proofs that can be used for compliance and audit requirements.
Opaque’s technology is used in enterprise environments where data sensitivity and regulatory obligations restrict AI deployment. Use cases include running generative AI agents on financial records, healthcare data, intellectual property and other regulated or proprietary datasets.
The Series B round was led by Walden Catalyst Ventures, with Intel Capital Corp., Race Capital, Storm Ventures LP, Thomvest Ventures and the Advanced Technology Research Council also participating.
“Enterprises will continue to struggle to bring AI into production until they have verifiable guarantees that their most sensitive data and models are protected,” said Young Sohn, founding managing partner at Walden Catalyst and board member at Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., Arm Ltd. and Cadence Design Systems Inc. “Opaque solves this problem and has pioneered a platform built for verifiable privacy, policy enforcement and model integrity, capabilities that are quickly becoming nonnegotiable.”
The new funding takes the total raised by Opaque to $55.5 million. The company’s previous rounds include $9.5 million in July 2021 and $22 million in June 2022.
