The nonprofit International Information System Security Certification Consortium, also known as ISC2, today published new exam guidance outlining how artificial intelligence security concepts are being incorporated across its entire cybersecurity certification portfolio.
The new Exam Guidance for Artificial Intelligence seeks to address the growing need for professionals to secure AI systems and manage AI-related risks as adoption increases. It provides exam candidates and their employers insight into how AI security concepts are incorporated into the ISC2 certification exam outlines.
The ISC2 Exam Guidance for Artificial Intelligence maps where AI concepts appear within more than 50 core cybersecurity exam domains across ISC2’s entire certification portfolio.
The new guidance is the culmination of a three-year exam refresh cycle that included job task analysis, exam blueprint development, item writing, peer review, standard setting and publishing. Certified subject matter experts and practitioners from the field also validated that ISC2 exams reflect real‑world professional requirements in the AI cybersecurity age.
The same experts will also regularly integrate AI‑focused tasks and security considerations into the certification exam blueprints to ensure ISC2 exams remain relevant, timely and rigorous.
“ISC2’s rigorous certification maintenance practice ensures we stay attuned to evolving job roles and the knowledge, skills and abilities cybersecurity professionals need to successfully secure their organizations,” said Chief Operating Officer Casey Marks. “Today’s guidance reflects how securing AI systems is increasingly incorporated into our exam content, requiring exam candidates to demonstrate their expertise addressing one of today’s most pressing security challenges.”
ISC2 is also integrating AI throughout its continuing education opportunities for existing members and cybersecurity professionals looking to build and demonstrate their AI security skills. Offerings include an AI security certificate, courses, research and peer-developed articles sharing best practices.
With AI embedded into its course materials, ISC2 says that professionals who would like to demonstrate their AI security expertise can have confidence that earning ISC2 certifications and gaining access to extensive continuing education opportunities will help them advance their careers in an increasingly AI-centric world.
ISC2 is the world’s largest member organization for cybersecurity professionals, with more than 265,000 certified members and associates.
