AppOmni launches Marlin AI to automate SaaS security investigation and remediation

Software-as-a-service security company AppOmni Inc. today launched Marlin AI, a new autonomous artificial intelligence capability built into its platform that handles correlation, investigation and guided remediation of SaaS security alerts without requiring manual analyst workflows.

The product is pitched at security teams drowning in alerts from sprawling SaaS estates. Marlin AI runs continuously inside the AppOmni platform, correlating security indicators across business-critical applications, investigating the resulting incidents and surfacing the ones that warrant action with step-by-step remediation instructions attached.

AppOmni argues that general-purpose generative AI tools and broad large language model agents struggle in SaaS environments because the data relationships among identities, configurations, integrations and activity logs are too specific for a generalist model to interpret reliably. Marlin AI is scoped narrowly to SaaS security, drawing on the company’s library of audit logs and activity telemetry and on threat research from its AppOmni Labs team.

Marlin AI correlates SaaS alerts across connected applications, investigates the ones that cluster together and returns plain-language remediation steps. Prebuilt playbooks run without scripting or custom integration work. AppOmni says the result is shorter mean time to investigate and remediate, with fewer handoffs between alerting tools and configuration consoles.

AppOmni claims that Marlin AI is the only enterprise SaaS security tool currently shipping autonomous AI analysis paired with guided remediation.

“When we built Marlin AI, our goal was simple: Automate and simplify security correlations and investigations to quickly solve SaaS threats,” said Melissa Ruzzi, senior director of AI at AppOmni. “SaaS environments are incredibly complex and general AI tools struggle to make sense of them. Marlin AI looks deeper into SaaS environments than any other solution on the market and brings forward insights and guidance to help security teams understand what matters most so they can take action faster.”

Founded in 2018 and based in San Mateo, California, AppOmni has raised $123 million in venture funding, including a $70 million Series C in 2022 led by Thoma Bravo. The company applies SaaS security posture management principles to AI activity, monitoring posture, access, third-party connections and AI-related events across customer environments.

Marlin AI is available now inside the AppOmni platform and requires no separate setup or configuration, according to the company.
