Spending New Years Eve in Japan? Go buy a Remo humanoid hobby robot!

image Who doesn’t think having their very own robot to walk the dog, wake up the kids, and open your beer would be the best thing ever?

Exactly.

Everyone has dreamed about it, and this ‘hobby bot’ from Japan is, well, pretty cool but not at all perfect. With two arms, two legs, and a Chucky meets Wall-E look to him, Remo could be your NEW best friend.

Don’t think he’ll be warming up the car and picking you up from the bar later, though.

He’s only about 2 feet tall.

Remo goes shoeless, with his built in pressure sensors in each foot keeping him balanced. Two color CCD cameras as eyes, process everything he ‘see’s’, and he come’s Bluetooth ready for easy up & downloads. Remo is available in Japan, for now. But my guess is you’ll see it in every corner store soon enough (or at least your favorite boutique electronics store. Remo runs about ¥400,000 (or about $4,500)
