LIVE: Cat’s Out of the Bag: Facebook’s New $1.5 Billion Data Center

Altoona, Iowa. I’d never heard of it either. However, in a project that is being touted as “the most technologically advanced data center in the world,” Facebook is building a $1.5 billion data center in Altoona, Iowa. The project is expected to be completed in two $500 million phases and leaders have already given it the green light. Altoona happens to be prime real estate for data centers because it meets all of the primary needs ranging from access to an extensive interstate fiber optic cable system to open and affordable land with low natural disaster risks.

On today’s Live NewsDesk Show with Kristin Feledy (see live stream below) we’ll be hearing from Wikibon Co-Founder and CTO David Floyer. Facebook’s one of the big web companies that revolutionized traditional infrastructure as we know it – there’s lessons to be learned from Facebook’s newest datacenter. How is Facebook leading the charge into the software-lead infrastructure of tomorrow?
