Updated live recording with full video – see below.

Yahoo is scooping up new companies at a rate like no other, with two acquisitions in only 24 hours!

Yahoo has quietly announced that they’ve acquired GhostBird Software, the creators of advanced iOS photography apps, KitCam and PhotoForge2.  Yahoo says that they’ve acquired GhostBird for the sake of improving Flickr.  Prior to yesterday’s acquisition, GhostBird had released three iOS photo apps: KitCam, PhotoForge, and PhotoForge 2.  While the apps will no longer be supported, existing users will still be able to access the apps on their devices and through iCloud.

The photo-centric acquisition was followed by a move less obviously attributed to one of Yahoo’s long-term reconstruction goals, when Yahoo bought VoIP calling tool Rondee.  Launched in 2007, the startup deals in the enterprise conference calling space, making it an odd buy for Yahoo.

Buy and Kill – What’s Yahoo’s end goal?

Like the many acquisitions that have come before GhostBird and Rondee, Yahoo will be shutting down the apps, indicating the technology and talent from these two buys will be incorporated into existing Yahoo infrastructure, products and services.

Joining us now to explain the actions of the buy-happy company is SiliconANGLE Senior Managing Editor Kristen Nicole.  (If you missed today’s topic, check our YouTube channel for archived clips.)

Some of the things we’ll be discussing with Kristen include the end-goal for Yahoo, the web giant’s objectives in buying and killing so many startups, and what this means for the burgeoning consumer service market.
