You may have already heard that Lithium Technologies is reportedly interested in acquiring social scoring service Klout for about $100 million. No confirmation on this news yet from either company, but if the deal does go forward, Klout may no longer be available for users as Lithium could easily integrate its algorithms into its services.
So if Klout does goes away, what other social scoring services will people be able to use to monitor their social influence?
.
Kred
Created by PeopleBrowsr, Kred is a lot like Klout in the sense that it measures a person’s influence on social media platforms as well as observe the user’s content or posts or tweets, see who it reaches and acts upon it, and whether the content is being shared with others.
Kred gives out dual scores that determine one’s Influence (the likelihood that someone will trust a person and act upon their posts) and Outreach (the propensity to share other people’s content forward). It also measures how users interact with their contacts in terms of acting upon their friend’s post through sharing, liking or commenting on posts. There’s a bit of influence from LinkedIn in the sense that you can give out +Kred, like you’re endorsing someone on LinkedIn, if you think that person deserves more recognition.

Booshaka
If you want something that delivers more insight into how you are influencing people, especially if you’re a brand looking to gain perspective on consumer engagement, then try Booshaka. Booshaka ranks the most passionate and influential people on Facebook. It is also a word-of-mouth marketing platform which is great for businesses and brands who want to know who among Facebook users delivers the most chatter about the company. Booshaka analyzes a Facebook page to determine the top contributors and find the users’ value for the company.

Twitalyzer
Businesses have flocked to Twitter to promote their brand but many have yet to measure how successful this strategy is. Twitalyzer calculates a user’s score based on the number of followers they have, mentions, retweets of their posts, retweeting others’ tweets, and frequency of updates. But what differentiates it from Klout is that it determines the impact a Twitter user has on his or her audience. It’s an analytics tool made for brands to determine how far their brand is reaching, and if people on Twitter are talking about them. It also pulls data from other social counters to determine the reach, impact, and authority of a Twitter user.
