Netvibes’ Dashboard of Everything

Netvibes, the personalized dashboard publishing platform for the Web, announced its third evolution with the Dashboard of Things (DoT).  The DoT allows enterprises, agencies and consumers to take a more proactive approach in controlling the programmable web and creating what it’s dubbed Potions (programs) to automate interactions between anything on their Netvibes dashboard such as apps, data and connected smart devices.

Potions are created by Netvibes users and follows the simple formula “If A or B triggers happen, then do X and Y actions; otherwise do Z.” It’s like If This Then That but with a broader scope. You can create Potions for stock monitoring, social media monitoring, creating a reading list, health tracking, weather forecasting, task management and more.

“After building your own Internet on a topic, which was the original Netvibes, we then added Social Analytics and MisoData Intelligence to understand what was going on in your Internet. With Dashboard of Things, Netvibes has achieved the third step—programming your Internet—to deliver on our vision of true Dashboard Intelligence,” said Freddy Mini, CEO of Netvibes.

ARM acquires Offspark to fortify IoT development security

ARM Holdings plc. has acquired Offspark B.V., an Internet of Things security company in the hopes that it would help developers design and create products in a more secure platform. Offspark offers Polar SSL, a Transport Layer Security used in mobile devices, sensors and communications module, and ARM’s acquisition of the company gives it access to this innovation. This will be integrated into ARM’s mbed platform and Polar SSL will be rebranded as ARM mbed TLS. Secure communication and cryptography offered by the mbed TLS will extend to the rest of mbed technologies.

Despite the rebranding of PolarSSL, the platform will remain open source and available to developers for commercial use. mbed TLS will be included in the updated version of the mbed OS which is slated to be released in the fourth quarter of 2015.

ICURO partners with ThingWorx for digital health

Intelligent care provider ICURO announced that it has selected IoT software company ThingWorx’s IoT Platform to power its intelligent care models.

ICURO will be utilizing the ThingWorx IoT Platform to launch its digital hub for consumer-centric care. Not only will this bring digital health closer to consumers, but will also allow ICURO to connect its stakeholders in the new consumer-centric ecosystem of providers, payors, employers, pharmaceuticals, and medical device companies with an integrated care delivery platform.

“ICURO is a good example of how IoT technology can improve communication between health care organizations and consumers to enable better health management and more effective treatments,” said Russ Fadel, president, ThingWorx. “The ThingWorx platform will enable ICURO to simplify and speed its development, reducing the time it takes ICURO to deploy secured healthcare solutions to market.”
