Sri Chandrashekar, VP and general manager of the ITOM business unit of ServiceNow, spoke with theCUBE at ServiceNow’s Knowledge15 event in Las Vegas, about the rising role of IT Operations Management and the meteoric rise of ServiceNow.
A $28 billion market, according to Chandrashekar, ITOM encompasses mainframe management, network management and other services. “At ServiceNow, we also focus on cloud management, configuration management and services lifecycle management,” he said.
ITOM also supports the growing native cloud app market. “For us it’s a black box,” Chandrashekar said of native cloud apps. “There are apps that use containers and apps that are built outside of containers. Both have to be deployed, managed and monitored.”
ServiceNow’s service-oriented perspective especially benefits developers. “Say you want to add two more features to an app,” Chandrashekar explained. “We can map that app, create a copy of it, and then developers can mature the features, test the app and bring it back into production. We make it easy for them.”
