How Evolution1 simplifies infrastructure for SaaS business | #emcworld

With a philosophy of simplifying management infrastructure, one company has redefined its business and partnership approach for today’s SaaS market. Jessie Braasch, VP of Infrastructure and Operations at Evolution1, Inc., sat down with John Furrier and Dave Vellante at this year’s EMC World conference to discuss how the company manages its software as a service (SaaS) offerings. Braasch described the business of Evolution1 as using SaaS to simplify healthcare spending.

An infrastructure that scales

“In the last couple years our philosophy has been simplifying the management of our infrastructure,” Braasch said. He continued with how Evolution1 employs a strategy of picking the right technology with a federated approach that brings a specific solution to every problem.

“We’ve compartmentalized our approach to how we handle IT,” he said, leveraging partners and advanced, out of the box solutions to manage the complexity of different platforms.

New problems, new solutions

Vellante then asked about the changes that Evolution1 has seen in its business as they’ve grown. Braasch replied that the major changes were in the speed, scale, and security of the infrastructure. He also mentioned they have a very aggressive approach to the mobile space and in using Big Data to drive their SaaS solutions.

Furrier posed the question of what other potential customers could get out of redefining their storage infrastructure with EMC Corp. Braasch replied that in their experience, EMC has been something more than just a vendor for technology solutions. It was the culture of EMC that most impressed him, and how they worked with Evolution1 as a partner to discover solutions to problems. He called it a holistic approach. “I think EMC’s product has grown immensely from the story of how they’re tying it all together with security and management,” he said.
