Jason Newton, senior director of marketing for HP’s Enterprise Group, returned to theCUBE at HP Discover 2015 to talk more about Enterprise Group messaging and the power of what HP calls “the idea economy.”
Some of the industry’s most successful tech companies philosophize about today’s economy, calling it the digital economy, the application economy or the API economy. HP stands behind the all-encompassing idea economy.
“The idea is ultimately the driving power,” said Newton. “In the idea economy that we’re living in today, anybody can act on an idea. There aren’t huge barriers to getting capital, to harnessing technology, or to bring people together to take an idea and create something special.
“In her keynote, Meg [Whitman] gave some great examples,” he continued. “Uber, she said, is becoming an adjective; as in, ‘don’t get uberfied in your industry.’ The founders had a great idea to create a new experience and never bought a single car. You have to have an infrastructure that can fend off those entrants into your industry.”
Newton hopes HP Discover attendees will recognize the company’s new strategy. “Hewlett-Packard Enterprise is a fresh start,” he said. “We’re focused on being a transformation partner for our customers, and we are committed to helping them be the disruptor in their industry.”
