Hortonworks Big Data Scorecard paves the way for Hadoop

Hortonworks Inc., wants to make it easier for organizations to become data-driven by showing them how they can put Hadoop to the best possible use.

To that end, the company has unveiled a new “Big Data Scorecard” for organizations to fill in. By doing so, it helps Hortonworks to generate a customized whitepaper for the organization that illustrates how they can use Hadoop. All organizations have to do is answer twenty questions on this page and Hortonworks will start helping them on their way towards implementing Hadoop.

Hortonworks’ president Herb Cunitz said his company has always been committed to helping customers make their Big Data projects a success, and the latest step is to assist them by demonstrating how Hadoop can be deployed to their advantage.

“We are leveraging our expertise to simplify big data and help our customers transform into data-driven enterprises,” Cunitz said. “The new Hortonworks Big Data Scorecard will accelerate our customers big data vision and greatly propel business transformation.”

The Big Data Scorecard survey effectively performs a five-step assessment of each organization. These include identifying the following; how ready the organization is; its current data and analytics pipeline; the necessary technology and infrastructure needed to realize its Big Data ambitions; if the skills and people are present to do so; and goals and metrics to showcase its Big Data success.

With the answers organization’s supply, Hortonworks analysis its current Big Data scorecard level and provides a forecast for its goals over the next two years. Companies can then use that data to compare with other organizations in their industry and plan investments and a roadmap to advance their objectives.

Companies also have the option of joining Hortonworks’ Joint Innovation Program, an initiative that’s designed to jumpstart the strategic planning process of their Big Data roadmap to deliver a vision, strategy and execution plan.

“We use a structured framework and holistic approach to help our customers refine their future “Vision” and define the business “Value” through business transformations,” explained Vishal Dhanuka, managing director and head of Customer Innovation & Strategy at Hortonworks.
