Infosys: Changing the landscape with AI | #oow15

During a second keynote at day three of Oracle OpenWorld 2015, Oracle partner, Dr. Vishal Sikka, CEO and managing director for Infosys, Ltd., described the state of technology as a human revolution. He reiterated a common theme of providing the customer end-to-end services that will transition to the cloud seamlessly.

Sikka said there is an emergence of intelligence services driven by Artificial Intelligence (AI). He gave three motivation factors for the change. He said, “AI technology is fueling the economies around us. The elasticity of the cloud is enabling and accelerating this and the new economics is making us moving faster.”

New and renew

Infosys’ mission is new on top of renew. The company wants to renew systems to deal with structural  changes. Sikka said, “Infosys is bringing innovation and automation… it is the bread and butter of our organization,” noting how the power of automation has saved his company 12 percent in resources.

The keynote focused on the launch of Aikido services, which work with the Oracle suite of products, to achieve transformation. He said the basic premise of Aikido is both modern and ancient, and he continued to break down how the word Aikido fits the product.

Ai is for …

Beginning with “Ai,” Sikka explained how this means to unify pieces and how platforms are the great unifier to achieve efficiency in the cloud. Based on an open-source product, Aikido services help to achieve efficiencies in the cloud and can process a great deal of data.

Knowledge defined

According to Sikka, “Ki” means knowledge and that means non-disruptive renewal. He remarked, “We need to become impervious to change.” He also explained in order to do that means to capture knowledge from people as they come into and leave an organization is critical. Doing this helps to build new experiences and offers constant renewal of the landscape.

Do means design

The final part of Aikido – “Do” represents the design thinking. Sikka believes, “We must deal with change, and with business, the great challenge is to identify the next problem.” Taming the unknown is important and digital is fundamental to what is possible.

Sikka also presented use cases from Tableau Software, General Electric and Carnegie Mellon University.
