Structure 2015 event kicks off: The cloudscape, a structured convergence | #StructureConf

The goal of the Structure 2015 event is to educate the industry about the current “cloudscape,” which encompasses public cloud offerings, as well as privately branded clouds. The event features speakers who will forecast the future of the cloud.

Jeff Frick and George Gilbert, cohosts of theCUBE, from the SiliconANGLE Media team, began coverage of the event by pointing out that this is the team’s first time at Structure.

Iconic event expands

“Structure was an iconic event because it was the first one to define cloud computing when it was just a bunch of definitions and not a lot of reality, and so that is what brought the thought leadership circle into the orbit of the conference,” Gilbert commented.

Gilbert expects the conference to provide a great deal of information about cloud infrastructure. He went on to describe how Structure began as a cloud infrastructure show, and then the Structure Data event spun off from that event, covering merging Big Data while defining a class of solutions. Most recently the launch of the Structure Connect event brings together the Internet of Things (IoT).

An overlap of ecosystems

This show, according to Gilbert, is not going to be solely about cloud infrastructure and software data centers; there is going to overlap in content. Frick wondered if cloud, Big Data and IoT are the driving force within the market. “Is it possible to separate or blend the areas?” Frick asked.

“It’s like splitting a warm cookie,” Gilbert replied. “Boundaries are not that clean.”

The hosts look forward to interviewing many distinguished guests over the next two days to sort out the future of the cloud.
