Microsoft helps minimize Hadoop complexity | #StructureConf

While Hadoop is the “shiny new toy” that most don’t want to miss out on, it sometimes takes years to go from proof-of-concept to production due to its complexity. George Gilbert, cohost of theCUBE, from the SiliconANGLE Media team, spoke with Joseph Sirosh, VP of Microsoft’s Information Management and Machine Learning (IMML) group, during Structure 2015. Sirosh discussed Microsoft’s ability to help simplify the complexity.

As a part of the Cloud and Enterprise group at Microsoft, Sirosh has a front row seat for all of the exciting things going on at the software and services giant.

The suite spot

Sirosh shared how Microsoft is focusing on simplifying complexity on behalf of its customers, because in today’s world, the complexities and overhead of Hadoop don’t have to be a roadblock. He added that customers can indeed focus on the stable environment that is provided for their applications to run without lengthy delays with Microsoft Azure.

Interconnected through a variety of APIs and shared through an all-in-one suite, Microsoft’s platform is designed to seamlessly work in unison and to ultimately provide a visual workflow.

Built as you need

He added that the goal is to make it so that applications can be simply built, at scale if required, through an evolving and progressing API marketplace – a concept known as the API economy. SaaS applications can simply be composed through the construct, and he likens the task to putting together a recipe that can include all the variations one needs.
