Samsung Galaxy S7: Leaked image shows 5.7-inch model and 12.2MP camera
There have been plenty of rumors making the rounds of what we can expect from Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. when it launches its flagship smartphone the Galaxy S7 next month. Thanks to an image published on the web over the weekend, the latest rumors to emerge about the Samsung Galaxy S7 regard its size and camera (via SamMobile).
5.7-inch Samsung Galaxy s7
At the end of 2015, rumors emerged that the Korean tech giant would be launching a 5.5-inch model, but if this image is anything to go on then it looks like the company will stick with its traditional 5.7-inch model. While some rumors have the Samsung Galaxy S7 launching in three different sizes, a 5.1-inch, 5.5-inch and the 5.7 inch, we are only likely to see a 5.1-inch and a 5.7-inch model at launch.
12.2-megapixel camera
The image also shows the 12.2-megapixel sensor for the Samsung Galaxy S7, which is smaller than Samsung’s current 16-megapixel cameras. Even though the image shows the camera taking a hit, rumors expect the new sensor to have a larger pixel size compared to the current version. However, this does contradict with Samsung’s Britecell sensor, rumored to make an appearance in the Galaxy S7, which has a smaller pixel size.
The image also shows a front-facing 5-megapixel camera, which will hopefully increase to match the 8-megapixel camera launched in the Galaxy A9. Exact details about the camera will possibly firm up over the next few weeks leading up to the launch.
Additional specs listed in the image are the expected 4GB of RAM, a fingerprint sensor, Quad HD display resolution, and the Snapdragon 820 CPU.
Additional rumored features
In previous articles, we have reported on rumors that the Galaxy S7 will come with a retina scanner as well as a new high-speed charging port. Additional rumors include Exynos and Snapdragon processor variants, a cheaper price and the return of the microSD card slot.
Release date
Samsung has provided no firm release date for the Galaxy S7, but it is likely to happen at the company’s Unpacked event, rumored to take place on February 20.
Between now and then we are likely to see many more rumors making the rounds of what we can expect from the Samsung Galaxy S7.
