LG Set To Introduce New Android Tablets in 2011

It seems that competition will be stiffer in the Android tablet market and will continue until 2011, as electronics giant LG plans to release a new and updated version of its tablets.

The company is set to release not one, but two tablets in the early part of next year. Reports have already mentioned and disclosed names of these improved versions of Android for tablets: Honeycomb and the LG Optimus Pad tablet. Talks have already been going on regarding the features of these products by this Korean tech firm.

LG has also dropped some hints on the hardware of these tablets. Both tablets are expected to showcase an 8.9-inch screen monitor. This monitor utilizes a dual-core Tegra 2 chip to power the works. This gadget will be simultaneously released in 2 continents by 2011. The launch is set to happen in the United States and chosen countries in Europe. However, LG would not want to give out other details like the exact price and other minute specs. This strategy will hopefully keep the public’s anticipation of the product surge up and discussions on how will the Android run with Honeycomb and LG Optimus Pad tablet.

LG is one of the several companies who are targeting to have tablets be launched and released in time for the holidays. However, Google has started discussing with these firms that the existing versions of Android may not be very suitable for tablets. Also, they may have to wait for a little more time for a better Android OS that run perfectly with tablet pads.

LG’s had an iffy relationship with Androids so far.  Certain devices designated for the device maker have already been scrapped, and during Google’s FroYo development, LG had a repeat series of issues and setbacks as a result.  That could be the case again, with Google working towards a Gingerbread or Honeycomb OS release for next year, but the platform overall will have to stabalize if tablets ever expect to take off.

Beyond Android, LG seems interested in other mobile systems, with early support for Windows Phone 7.
