BIG DATA

Can automatic data warehouses speed up big data progress for companies? | #reInvent

Even with all the innovation around data, moving it around the network is still a slower process than companies would like. The problem is that as big data snowballs (no pun intended) to colossal proportions, dealing with it piecemeal becomes impractical. Setting up whole data centers in which to store the data is necessary, and the time is ripe to automate this process.

Itamar Ankorion, CMO of Attunity Inc., spoke to Jeff Frick (@JeffFrick), host of theCUBE*, from the SiliconANGLE Media team, during AWS re:Invent about customers’ struggles to manage their sprawling data. (*Disclosure below) He said while it was easy enough for Attunity to help them migrate some data to Amazon’s Redshift, customers needed to set up actual data centers.

“That process has always been very cumbersome, very development-centric, not agile, takes a long time,” Ankorion said. “So they were asking, ‘Can you innovate; can you do something there?'”

Instant data warehouse

Ankorion stated Attunity has answered customers with Attunity Compose — data warehouse automation software the company introduced earlier this year.

“So it’s not just ETL [Extract Transform Load] automation; it takes an end-to-end process of creating a data warehouse and makes it much more agile and easy than ever before,” he said.

The company announced that Attunity Compose is now available to Amazon’s customer base through Redshift.
