Last year, Association for Corporate Growth sponsor Peaxy Inc. nabbed a Gartner Cool Vendor award for its work in industrial unstructured data access. Peaxy has continued its efforts to innovate in this highly specialized area, according to Manuel Terranova (pictured), the company’s chief executive officer.
“Data access, which is what we’re focusing on, is giving subject matter experts access to very valuable unstructured data to predict equipment performance,” he said.
Terranova spoke with Lisa Martin (@Luccazara), host of theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s mobile live streaming studio, during the recent ACG in Silicon Valley’s U.S. Trust GROW! Awards event in Mountain View, California. (* Disclosure below.)
Peaxy has focused on industrial data problems from its inception, “and for Gartner to say, you’ve carved out a unique piece of beachhead is special,” Terranova said.
Being in such a rarefied market perhaps helps explain Peaxy’s involvement in ASG. ASG offers a community in which to share business problems with others and float possible solutions, Terranova explained.
For example, this year’s ASG Award winners Twilio Inc. (a developer cloud platform) and graphics processing unit maker Nvidia Corp. both interest Terranova for their possible applications to Peaxy’s work.
In Twilio’s case, “We do a lot of unstructured data mapping on 3D globes, which of course is relevant in that space,” he said, adding that many industrial companies are thinking beyond traditional real estate and large facilities.
And — no surprise here — Nvidia GPUs hold promise for visualization of large industrial datasets, according to Terranova. “Industrial visualization of unstructured data is an up-and-coming area,” he said, adding that customer demand is driving Peaxy’s activity in the area.
“This is in the area of digital twins and trying to visualize very complex equipment, running real-time as a simulated twin of the physical component,” he said, explaining that this requires mass computational power and the visualization and processing abilities of GPUs.
“So I think Nvidia is really well positioned there, as well,” he concluded.
