‘Walshed’ Phones Won’t Update Past NoDo
As Windows Phone customers on the AT&T network are finally getting their updates, Microsoft has come up with a new description for phones that were updated prior to the official roll-out of NoDo.![]()
They are called “Walshed phones“.
This is because of the ChevronWP7 Updater tool created by Australian developer Chris Walsh that allowed Windows Phone users to bypass the carriers and install the NoDo update on their own.
Some people have suggested that Microsoft’s statement that using the updater will endanger future updates for those affected phones is nothing more than FUD. This has led Brandon Watson to message on Twitter that the issue is real.
Time will tell.
