No-code workflow automation startup airSlate raises $40M

Workflow automation startup airSlate Inc., which sells a “no-code” platform that helps office workers automate various business processes, said today it has closed on $40 million in additional investment.

The funding, which comes from from Morgan Stanley Expansion Capital, General Catalyst and HighSage Ventures, brings its total amount raised to $80 million to date.

AirSlate’s automation platform is designed to help non-technical users transform front and back-office business processes such as employee and customer onboarding, sales and ordering workflows, contracts and payments. It provides a range of tools that enable this, including artificial intelligence-based no-code workflow automation, e-signature, robotic process automation  and document management platforms.

The company reckons that clients such as the government of Australia and Eversource Energy have benefited from significant improvements in delivery and effectiveness due to its platform. The airSlate platform also fosters more collaboration among remote workers, something it says is an important consideration in today’s COVID-19 pandemic-afflicted world.

“AirSlate’s no-code ethos requires no technical expertise to use and gives everyone the opportunity to design and implement beautiful, personalized, secure and digitally executable customer and employee experiences,” said airSlate Chief Executive Borya Shakhnovich. “Now more than ever, we see huge demand from businesses of all sizes, from very small to enterprise, that need the agility and efficiency of the no-code airSlate platform to drive their business.”

AirSlate said the funding from its backers means it is well positioned to capture a “significant share” of the business process automation and document management markets. The company said it will use the new funds to expand its product functionality and integrations for additional use cases and expand its sales and marketing teams. Ultimately, it’s aiming to top $100 million in annual recurring revenue this year.

“Workflow automation is a rapidly emerging technology growth sector, with airSlate positioned at the right stage to achieve and maintain significant momentum in this space,” said Pete Chung, Head of Morgan Stanley Expansion Capital.
