Dell Hangs Storage Hopes on RNA Acquisition

Storage and networking virtualization are two primary anchors of Dell’s refocused strategy and recovery plan. With Michael Dell expressing huge admiration on storage, it is not surprising to see the company chasing innovations within this platform. This rerouting tactic seems to be working out quite favorably with Dell’s second quarter margin and revenues up, having tripled compared to last year.

As a huge part of the long-term action agenda and to survive in the pool with tough competitors like Hewlett Packard, Microsoft and others, Dell tapped Netuitive to alleviate the challenge of managing dependencies between isolated segments of the business. Running within the same pursuit, the company now teams up with RNA Networks.

In an official statement, Jess Blackburn, a spokesman for the Round Rock, Texas-based Dell confirmed the deal between the two companies: “RNA networks has a great memory virtualization technology, and we look forward to leveraging that in future offerings.”

A start-up company instituted in 2006, RNA Networks hopes to bring its edgy factor to transform the  monster server of varied workloads. The partnership will revolve around shared global memory and memory virtualization acceleration. Other details were kept by the organization from the public for an undisclosed reason. Even the agreement was signed in stealth.

Dell was the tech community’s favorite son in the 90’s. However, the glow diminished as the 21st century approached.  From the peaks to the pits, you cannot imagine how Dell was able to pull it together and recuperate. The recent Dell Storage Forum 2011 became a lucrative platform for Dell to make announcements regarding storage solutions, cloud services and software updates. Furthermore, important releases were made possible here. These include global expansion and world-class storage solutions. The same event became their venue to address real needs that revolve around storage.  In an interview at The Cube, Darren Thomas keenly discussed key elements to their storage plan.
