Skedulo, which helps companies manage mobile workers, raises $75M

5Mobile productivity software provider Skedulo Holdings Inc. is getting ready to manage more mobile workforces after landing a hefty $75 million round of funding today led by SoftBank Vision Fund 2.

The company said it will use the Series C funding round to continue to develop and scale up its platform and expand internationally.

Skedulo is an Australian firm that was founded in 2013, offering software that helps enterprises to schedule and manage their mobile, or deskless, workers in industries ranging from healthcare to construction. Its software works by matching the availability of qualified employees with the company’s need to serve customers or fulfill tasks in a certain location.

That way, companies can use the software to automate scheduling of shift times for their mobile and fixed workers. Shift schedules can also be arranged manually, with the platform providing smart suggestions.

Skedulo also provides an app for employees that can be used to notify them of new tasks, or for internal messaging and virtual meetings. What’s more, its software integrates into popular systems of record such as Salesforce and ServiceNow.

The company reckons the deskless worker market is completely underserved, pointing out that as many as 80% of employees do not work in a traditional office environment.

Skedulo said its software proved its worth with the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic last year, helping customers across the healthcare industry to better schedule their workforce to ensure medical staff were always on hand when needed. For example, Skedulo’s software also helped assist Bio-Reference Laboratories Inc. with COVID-19 testing for both its frontline workers and for thousands of patients.

“Leveraging Skedulo’s technology helped us provide COVID-19 testing for millions of patients across the country and significantly reduced patient wait-time,” said Vinny Pacione, vice president of Consumer Technology and Digital Solutions at BioReference Laboratories. “By co-creating a solution with Skedulo, we were able to scale our operations to meet the growing patient demand.”

Skedulo’s software was later used to help organization mass vaccination campaigns in New Zealand, Ontario, Canada, as well as U.S. states California, Maine, Maryland, North Carolina and Ohio, the company said. The pandemic is one of the main reasons that Skedulo’s annual recurring revenue has jumped 400% in the last three years, officials said, though it didn’t disclose absolute numbers.

“Throughout 2020, Skedulo helped frontline and deskless workers do their jobs more efficiently and effectively so they could focus on their roles,” said Skedulo Chief Executive Matt Fairhurst.

SoftBank Investment Advisers Partner Priya Saiprasad said it was the pandemic that prompted his company to back Skedulo, as it led to much more rapid adoption of digital services by staff that don’t work in traditional office settings. “Skedulo’s cloud-based software helps enterprises increase productivity by enabling them to intelligently manage and support deskless workforces,” he said.
