Infosys weighs in on digital transformation strategy and trends

Digital transformation isn’t slowing despite supply chain issues, a war in Europe and escalating inflation, according to a major digital services provider.

The reason: “It’s all about growth,” said Anant Adya (pictured, right), executive vice president at Infosys Ltd. Post-pandemic business growth supplants pandemic-caused isolation economy, now, in other words.

“What we hear from most of the CEOs and most of the customers, and most of the executives in the tech companies, digital transformation should be used for business growth,” Adya said.

Adya and Saju Sankarankutty (left), vice president and chief technology officer of Infosys, spoke with theCUBE industry analysts Dave Vellante and John Furrier at last year’s HPE Discover event, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed digital transformation strategy and trends the consultancy was seeing. Software business on the way out

Achieving growth through a better customer experience prompting people to buy more is one of the angles, as is using digitization to enter new markets.

“There’s also a new trend; what we are seeing is in terms of improving the experience,” Sankarankutty said. “Leveraging some of the technologies, like blockchain as well as AR/VR.”

There are six technologies Infosys is encountering that are defining the enablement of growth, according to Adya. They are cloud, artificial intelligence, edge computing, 5G networks, the internet of things and machine learning.

“More and more customers are now coming and saying, ‘We want to use these six technologies to drive business outcomes,’” he said.

Infosys has a number of strategies to offer the enterprise — one of which is the avoidance of lock-in to specific providers, according to Sankarankutty.

“Bring in a level of portability. The whole dependency on the large software stacks, the large software providers is slightly diminishing now,” he said of traditional software.

Through leveraging open standards, Infosys provides a way for its customers to build cloud-native applications without getting hemmed in, Sankarankutty added.
