The next leg of cloud computing: HCLTech strives for a unified approach to continuous modernization

With the cloud becoming a business accelerator for enhanced growth, reimagining it is important for seamless operations.

Since cloud-native is the new language of addressing digital business, CloudSMART provides a unified approach or ecosystem needed to maximize business value based on unique circumstances, organizational objectives and enterprise requirements, according to Kowdinya Kumar Dharmavarapu (DK) (pictured, right), vice president and global head of IBM/Red Hat ecosystem go to market at HCL Technologies Ltd.

“CloudSMART is like a consultative-led approach to provide one HCLTech cloud industry solutions to our clients by having an approach from innovation, and it focuses on continuous modernization,” Dharmavarapu said. “CloudSMART is actually industrialized services, which are more like an outcome-driven, which are highly automated and repeatable processes, but built on standard products and platforms so that we can build at scale with it.”

Dharmavarapu and Mitch Gordon (left), global head of go-to-market for IBM-Red Hat hybrid cloud ecosystem at HCLTech, spoke with theCUBE industry analysts John Furrier and Rob Strechay at Red Hat Summit, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed how HCLTech’s CloudSMART boosts modernization through a unified approach and the HCLTech-Red Hat Inc. partnership. (* Disclosure below.)

Through the lens of hybrid cloud

Hybrid cloud is all about the ability and capability to move, adopt, adapt and adjust. As a result, Red Hat acts as the digital transformation element that glues various hyperscalers, and presents public cloud, bare metal and private cloud, according to Dharmavarapu.

“Hybrid cloud is about the capability; it’s not about an end state,” Dharmavarapu said. “Red Hat gives the portfolio, which is comprehensive for a hybrid multicloud with the platform approach around the Enterprise Linux, OpenShift and Ansible. Red Hat becomes a core part of our CloudSMART strategy.”

To boost time-to-value, ecosystems are crucial because they give a 360-degree kind of approach. Ecosystems also ensure that every mile is covered, Gordon pointed out.

“Our ecosystem, we even have a Red Hat day-zero team in India,” Gordon explained. “All they do is proof of concept, proof of value, proof of technology. It’s a big differentiator for HCL because we have these real kind of Navy Seal folks that really know the technology.”
