Fortanix launches ‘Key Insight’ for enhanced data security in hybrid multicloud environments
Intel Corp.-backed multicloud security firm Fortanix Inc. today announced Key Insight, a new capability in its Data Security Manager platform that enables enterprises to discover, assess and remediate risk and compliance gaps across hybrid multicloud environments.
Debuting at AWS re:Invent 2023, the new capability, claimed to be an industry-first, seeks to address the issue wherein data breaches lead to monetary losses, hefty penalties and severe brand damage. Fortanix argues that though traditional firewalls and cloud security defenses shield the perimeter, the data itself remains vulnerable.
To protect against data theft, encryption is said to be the final line of defense, but Fortanix notes that enterprises often lack robust control over encryption keys, leading to significant risk. This is where Fortanix Key Insight steps in with a solution to provide consolidated insights and control of all cryptographic keys to protect critical data services.
With Fortanix Key Insight, security, cloud and developer teams can collaborate to assess risk posture and remediate compliance gaps consistent with policies, regulatory mandates, or industry standards such as those from the National Institute of Standards and Technology, the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation and the Payment Card Industry. Key Insight expands the power of Fortanix DSM to deliver a unified data security platform for enterprise key management, data tokenization and secrets management.
Innovations debuting in Key Insight include the ability to discover all encryption assets and provide detailed mapping between encryption keys and data services in an easy-to-understand dashboard. Users can assess data security risk posture through visual heatmaps that quickly pinpoint risks, gaps and priorities against established policies, regulations, and industry standards.
Lastly, Key Insight allows users to remediate gaps in policy and compliance to eliminate risk and to achieve crypto agility at scale, with robust reporting to demonstrate continuous improvements over time.
