Transforming IT operations: Exploring HPE’s AI-driven observability solutions

In the quickly evolving landscape of modern technology, staying ahead of the curve requires a deep understanding of cutting-edge innovations.

The transformative potential of advanced technology shines a spotlight on the pivotal role of artificial intelligence and observability in the hybrid IT world. As organizations grapple with increasing complexity, spiraling costs and a growing emphasis on sustainability, AI and observability are shaping the future of IT service management, driving efficiency and leading the charge toward a sustainable digital landscape. Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co. is looking to make its mark in this arena.

“HPE is a really innovative company, and I’d kind of put it into three brackets,” said Marc Waters (pictured, left), senior vice president of customer success, services and solutions at Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co. “Firstly, we make highly innovative, very efficient infrastructure underlying technology environment. Second to that, we have great people. Really interesting is the progression we are making on high-value SaaS-based solutions … we’re bringing observability, intelligent observability and AI operations to transform IT service management.”

Waters and Kaveri Kalavath (right), senior director of customer success at HPE, spoke with theCUBE industry analysts Rob Strechay and Rebecca Knight at the HPE Discover Barcelona event, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed the complexities organizations face, the transformative power of AI and observability, and the critical role these technologies play in enhancing efficiency and sustainability. Challenges of the hybrid IT world

At this week’s HPE Discover Barcelona event, the complexities faced by organizations in managing hybrid environments took center stage. The challenges arising from the coexistence of digital environments, including public and private clouds, alongside legacy systems leads to challenges related to service quality, escalating costs and a growing awareness of sustainability concerns, according to Waters.

“I think the biggest challenge right now is complexity,” he said. “Organizations have been spinning up digital environments, public clouds, private clouds, maintaining their legacy, and they’ve kind of found themselves in this hybrid environment.”

As organizations grapple with the proliferation of applications and data across these diverse environments, it’s crucial to find solutions that provide real-time insights and effective management.

“There’s apps and there’s data everywhere … and that creates a couple of issues,” Waters added. “One is around service quality. The other is spiraling costs. The third one is an increased awareness of the sustainability impact of energy consumption and what that means for the business outlook.”

AI and observability: The path to efficiency and sustainability

The role of AI and observability in addressing these challenges is critical in today’s new data and computing environment. OpsRamp, an HPE solution, is a game-changer in the field, according to Kalavath.

“OpsRamp is an AI-powered, multi-tiered, multi-tenanted, hybrid IT operations management solution,” she said. “It enables discovery … does full-stack observability. It does AIOps. It also enables automation and incident management. There are other aspects like security, privacy and also with regards to sustainability.”

The solution seamlessly integrates data sources, mines valuable insights and empowers predictive decision-making, Kalavath added. This actionable insight is presented in a user-friendly manner in real-time, allowing organizations to trust the system and execute efficiently.

“Sustainability is a key aspect,” Kalavath said. “Being able to [bring] all that data together, being able to observe and apply AIOps and surface to that data in a meaningful manner … it’s feeding the [HPE] GreenLake sustainability platform as well so that they can then allocate the resources appropriately and also optimize the resources to make sure we’re giving back to the environment as well.”
