Detect. Respond. Recover. Those three actions capture the three-pronged security methodology for how Dell Technologies Inc. helps customers reduce the attack surface inside the IT environment. Yet there is a fourth action that also plays a significant role: collaborate. This concept is at the heart of Dell’s “Partnerships for Smarter Security” initiative, which emphasizes the importance of working together to enhance cybersecurity.

The role of partnerships in providing enterprise security has become an essential part of the IT landscape. For Dell, this means collaboration with hyperscalers and a wide range of security providers to offer a comprehensive suite of IT security solutions. This has become more significant as enterprise security remains a critical issue.

“Customers are stressed, they’re overworked, there’s a lack of talent in order to solve this problem,” said theCUBE Research Chief Analyst Dave Vellante, in advance of the event. “The probability of an incident is very high, it’s not a matter of if, it’s when. The other dimension is the impact, and that’s what you can control. You can control your security posture at the impact of that breach.”

To help customers control the impact, Dell has formed partnerships across the ecosystem to improve defense posture in response to successful cyberattacks. During the Dell “Partnerships for Smarter Security” event, taking place on October 9 at 9 AM PT, theCUBE will dive into the role of professional services in combatting adversaries, how Dell’s alliances enhance detection and response, and the growing importance of supply chain security. Partnerships for smarter security: Delivering security across environments

One example of how Dell’s ecosystem of partners supports managed detection and response, or MDR, can be found in its alliance with CrowdStrike Inc. In March, Dell announced that its MDR service would become available with the AI-native CrowdStrike Falcon XDR platform. The collaboration combined Dell’s security operations experts and threat hunting capabilities with CrowdStrike’s Falcon to deliver security across multicloud and multi-vendor environments.

Alliances such as these highlight how the tech industry has embraced an understanding that security will require a group effort. In addition to its partnership with CrowdStrike, Dell works closely with Microsoft, SecureWorks, Zscaler, Okta, Tenable and Cobalt, among others, to provide customers with detection, response and recovery services.

TheCUBE’s “Partnerships for Smarter Security” event will also feature a closer look at supply chain security. This area has emerged as a critical area for enterprise protection as ransomware groups are increasingly targeting supply chains to amplify disruption.

Dell has taken steps to address this issue through Secured Component Verification, a server chain of trust that enables customers to match critical components with factory-issued configurations.

“I would say there probably hasn’t been an executive briefing that I’ve had where the supply chain hasn’t come up,” said Steve Kenniston, senior cybersecurity lead of portfolio marketing at Dell, who will be participating in theCUBE’s upcoming event. “It’s one part of a multi-part problem.”
