How multicloud integration powers AI and application modernization
The cloud computing landscape is evolving rapidly, with multicloud integration becoming a key strategy for operational efficiency and innovation.
The industry is driven by demand for technology solutions that modernize applications, enhance artificial intelligence and ensure compliance across diverse landscapes. Meeting these needs requires advanced tools and customer-focused innovation to simplify operations while optimizing performance and cost, according to Kambiz Aghili (pictured), vice president of Oracle cloud infrastructure at Oracle Corp.
“Customers want access to Oracle and non-Oracle data states wherever they need them, and right next to one another, they want to be able to build new applications that benefit them,” he said. “They want to be able to use relational data, non-relational machine learning graph, text spatial operations right next to one another with the same SQL, REST API as they are used to.”
Aghili spoke with theCUBE Research’s Bob Laliberte at Microsoft Ignite 2024, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed Oracle Cloud Infrastructure’s multicloud strategy, its integration with Microsoft Azure and its role in enabling seamless application modernization for global enterprises.
How multicloud integration is driving application modernization
Multicloud adoption is no longer a trend, but a necessity for many enterprises. OCI is meeting this demand by prioritizing cross-cloud redundancy and seamless interoperability, according to Aghili.
“We’re talking about literally having the exact identical software/hardware stack of Oracle inside, operating from inside of Azure data center and being able to interoperate with microsecond latency work across with the Azure services on the side,” Aghili said. “It’s been making the beloved best-in-class Oracle Database technology available wherever customers want it, making it interoperable with the other Azure cloud services … making it very seamless for customers to utilize cross-data application development, LLM build-outs on the AI side.”
AI is another major area where OCI is driving innovation. With multicloud integration, OCI ensures seamless operations, enabling AI advancements and comprehensive data governance for enterprises, Aghili explained.
“Customers do not want to deal with patching and maintenance of getting from version to version,” Aghili said. “So, making these online services — from online security to patching — for customers that really need 24/7 availability, when you put that in conjunction with the data governance and the compliance that they really need us to meet on their behalf, making that absolutely a checkbox has been super successful and well-received with the customers today.”
