New Thales solution integrates Imperva technologies to enhance data risk management
Thales SA today announced the launch of Data Risk Intelligence, a new Imperva Data Security Fabric solution that proactively addresses the risk of data wherever it resides.
The new solution unites the risk and threat identification capabilities of the Imperva Data Security Fabric with the data protection capability of the Thales CipherTurst Data Security Platform, following Thales’ acquisition of Imperva for $3.6 billion in 2023.
The joint solution seeks to address the issue wherein organizations face challenges in managing security across an ever-growing attack surface while at the same time maintaining compliance with regulatory standards. Thales argues that with data and operations spread across the cloud, on-premises and hybrid systems, security teams require constant, comprehensive visibility into where their data is, the types of data they have and the potential risks to that data.
Data Risk Intelligence addresses those issues by combining contextual insights to provide a unified view of risks to critical data. The view shows the strength of encryption for data across an organization’s entire data state, allowing security teams and data risk specialists to identify the most critical data at risk by severity and effectively prioritize risk mitigation with clear recommendations for corrective action.
The new service delivers a highly confident risk score and clear recommendations for corrective action that are based on a wide-ranging set of data risk indicators through advanced analytics, built upon user permissions, data source vulnerabilities, use of encryption following NIST standards, monitoring of suspicious activities and other customizable inputs.
Key benefits of Data Risk Intelligence include enhanced risk prioritization that combines insights from the Data Security Fabric and CipherTrust Data Security Platform to deliver precise risk scores for confident decision-making. It also offers comprehensive visibility across an organization’s data estate, simplifying risk management with actionable indicators and protective recommendations.
The solution features customizable risk indicators, enabling organizations to adapt to their unique environments and focus on critical threats. Additionally, advanced encryption integration and machine learning analytics identify and prioritize high-risk data, ensuring robust protection at all levels.
“The ability to view data risk in key dimensions across organizational risk, asset risk and regulatory risk in one place is extremely impactful,” said Todd Moore, vice president of data security products at Thales. “Data Risk Intelligence is the first of many integrations between the Thales and Imperva platforms that empower our customers to protect their data and all the paths to it.”
