Pantomath Inc., an automated data operations platform startup powered by artificial intelligence, today announced it has raised $30 million in a Series B funding to expand beyond traditional data observability and become what it calls an operating system for data operations.
The funding round was led by global investment firm General Catalyst, with participation from existing investors Sierra Ventures, Bowery Capital and Epic Ventures alongside new investors Hitachi Ventures, Cintrifuse Capital and Foster Ventures. This round follows the company’s $14 million Series A in late 2023, led by Sierra Ventures.
The startup was co-founded in 2022 by Pantomath President Somesh Saxena, who faced numerous data challenges as the team lead at GE Aerospace for data and analytics, where he supported over 18,000 data customers.
“Enterprises today grapple with highly manual and reactive data operations to support their data pipelines and analytics products,” Saxena explained. “74% of organizations rely on downstream end-users to discover data reliability problems, leading to isolated manual troubleshooting and incident management that, according to a CDO survey, takes 90% of organizations hours to weeks to resolve.”
To meet these demands, Saxena said Pantomath is expanding beyond real-time detection and into self-resolution of incidents using autonomous AI agents to act as data reliability engineers. Through automating what would be manual labor by data engineers, Saxena said that organizations can reduce data downtime, unreliable data incidence and failures to meet customer agreements on data reliability.
Since its initial product launch in 2023, the company said the platform has experienced rapid growth across industries and now supports mission-critical data analytics pipelines for Fortune 500 companies. The startup added that it has landed multiple enterprise customers, including Coterie Applications Inc., Paycor Inc. and Lendly LLC.
Last year, when the company raised its Series A funding, Pantomath announced its intention to enhance its data observability tools with AI capabilities, and it has now fulfilled that promise. This development has also borne fruit with customer use cases.
“Pantomath slashed the time our teams spent tracking down broken pipelines. With their automated root-cause analysis, we resolve issues in minutes (not hours, days or weeks) so our business partners always have trusted data,” said Andrew Connolly, director of site reliability engineering for payment processing and information management services provider WEX Inc.
With this new round, the company said it intends to accelerate product innovation and hire more team members to meet enterprise demand.
