Data protection was one of the topics for discussion at theCUBE's AI Cybersecurity and Reliene Summit with Dell Technologies. AI

What to expect during Dell’s ‘Cyber Resilience’ event: Join theCUBE Oct. 27

Data protection and cyber resilience have emerged as foundational control layers for enterprise AI.

This was one of the clear messages from the discussion at Dell Technologies World in Las Vegas earlier this year. Cyber recovery capabilities are linked to resilience, AI governance, data integrity and operational trust, all essential requirements in an environment where the reliability of AI systems depends on the data pipelines, runtime controls and recovery processes supporting them.

Cyber recovery will be at the center of the AI Cybersecurity and Resilience Summit, broadcasting Oct. 27–28 on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. The Summit will feature a Dell Technologies-led day 1 flagship program, titled “From AI to Quantum: A New Era of Cyber Resilience,” airing Oct. 27. One of the guests on the program will be Rob Emsley, director of cyber resilience marketing at Dell Technologies Inc., who has spoken in the past about how enterprise security staff must continually refine their incident response skills and familiarize themselves with core defensive principles.

“We train our sellers and our partners about three keywords when it comes to cyber resilience: secure, detect and recover,” Emsley said. “Secure is about reducing the attack surface. Detect is about detecting and responding to threats. [Recovery] from cyberattacks, at the end of the day, is what the customers expect when they need it.”

The broadcast will also reach North America, EMEA and APJ audiences Oct. 28–29. TheCUBE Research analysts Dave Vellante, Krista Case, Christophe Bertrand and Scott Hebner will examine how Dell and its industry partners are rethinking architecture, policy and operating models to make AI more reliable in real-world conditions. Connected platforms for data protection

Earlier this year, Dell made a series of announcements designed to connect its AI Data Platform, PowerProtect portfolio, CyberSense capabilities and automation stack into a more unified architecture. The emphasis was on data access, AI-ready data pipelines, cyber resilience and policy-aware AI operations designed for enterprise-scale environments.

“Dell’s announcements reflect that cyber resilience and AI infrastructure platforms are expanding beyond backup and recovery into metadata visibility, recovery validation and contextual understanding of enterprise data,” said theCUBE Research’s Case. “Organizations should pay close attention to how vendors establish governance and validation for AI environments.”

This expansion beyond backup and recovery illustrates how agentic AI is changing the protection needs for many organizations. As agents become more capable of accelerating cyberattacks, enterprises must adopt defensive strategies more rapidly as a result.

“The threat is evolving more quickly than ever with agents, and that’s why having this secure, isolated, immutable layer — which is a core differentiation for how we build our portfolio — is necessary,” said Simon Jelley, vice president of product management at Dell, during a conversation with theCUBE. “Governance is necessary, but governance, as unfortunately we know, is never 100% guaranteed.”

New approaches to build cyber resilience

Along with protecting against AI-fueled attacks, Dell and its customers are also discovering the benefits of using autonomous tools to safeguard critical data and systems. Dell has been using Claude Mythos Preview and other frontier AI models to aggressively find and fix product vulnerabilities. Generating highly unpredictable test scenarios can uncover hidden architectural weaknesses, according to Jelley.

“The reality is you need it to be randomized, and again, that’s where you’re leveraging those on demand environments to be able to spin up quickly — randomize the test set,” Jelley explained. “AI is going to actually be a contributor to helping there, in terms of randomizing the vulnerability. It’s definitely both a risk and a tool in terms of how we help our customers.”

Dell’s approach highlights a key element in the development of new approaches to building cyber-resilient infrastructure. As theCUBE Research analysts have noted, survey data reveals that enterprises are facing security challenges in AI deployments, and this has been a central part of Dell’s focus on building cyber resiliency.

“Cyber resiliency risk is not just on the data, what you have to go through every day; it’s also starting to appear in the actual AI infrastructure itself,” said theCUBE Research’s Bertrand. “Security or cyber exposures … this is what people are saying is, on top of cost, their first operational challenge when it comes to implementing AI. There is no AI without a secure infrastructure, and that means data that is also recoverable, that it is secure and is of course compliant.”

During the day 1 event, featured interview topics include:

  • AI Security: From Inception to Agentic: Explore how organizations can embed security throughout the AI lifecycle, protect agentic AI systems and strengthen threat detection and recovery.
  • The Path to Post-Quantum Security & Resilience: Prepare for the future of post-quantum security with strategies to address emerging threats and strengthen long-term cyber resilience.
  • Resilience as a Superpower: Uncover how built-in security, operational resilience and strategic partnerships can turn cyber resilience into a competitive advantage.
  • From Security Operations to Security Outcomes: Understand how shifting boardroom priorities are transforming cybersecurity into a strategic business asset focused on measurable outcomes.
