Verizon Dropping Unlimited Data July 7th. Get Yours While Supplies Last.
The crimson mess of data strikes in a couple days. Those who are not blessed with unlimited data plans will no longer have the option with Verizon. The time to act is now if you’d like to “escape” AT&T and hop over to Verizon, before they reach the point of no return.
“Existing customers who upgrade on or after July 7 will be able to upgrade to another smartphone and keep their unlimited smartphone data plan,” as FierceWireless cites Brenda Raney.
“The Verizon spokeswoman mentioned new smartphone customers will choose from one of three options: $30 for 2 GB, $50 for 5 GB or $80 for 10 GB. There will be an overage charge of $10 per GB of data. Verizon will also charge $10 for 75 MB per month for feature phone users. AT&T Mobility (NYSE:T) charges $15 per month for 200 MB and $25 per month for 2 GB .”
I was thinking about jumping ship a while ago when Verizon announced the iPhone 4. However, the lack of multi-tasking and upholding my belief that AT&T’s 3G network is much faster keeps me glued down.
Fortunately, being a long time AT&T customer, they allowed me to keep my unlimited data plan after relocating to Dallas, TX. Heck, it’s their own backyard. Honestly, I was a bit nervous since I’m actively using data for GPS, Pandora, Netflix, and other things that would devour a limited plan.
I’m curious to see how Verizon customers and potentials will react on that particular day. Even though it’s been announced, there’s always a chance of some buzz. Why is our freedom to explore the web being taken away due to data restraints?
