The SiDiM project is a collaboration between researchers, the book industry and the Government that aims to be a consumer-friendly form of DRM with the goal of developing new protection measures for eBooks and electronic documents. The new DRM form would essentially give every ebook its own unique set of tags, or watermarks, to make tracking pirated content back to the original pirate easier.
But why are ebooks so popular amongst pirates that they’re in need of specialized DRM systems, and is this new idea foolproof?
Here to tell us more about the implications of this new DRM format, Casaretto will share his thoughts and expectations for the SiDiM project, given that it’s automated and rather controversial.
