New in SmartCars : Program messages to other drivers, Open garages with headlights

This week’s SmartCar roundup features a gadget that allows you to communicate with other drivers, a device that lets you control your garage door with your car headlights, and a gadget that connects your life to your automobile.

Drivemotion Animator

Have you ever wished there was an easy way to communicate with other drivers besides yelling, flipping them off, or simply waving to get their attention?

If Kickstarter project Drivemotion Animator reaches its funding goal, then drivers will have a new way of communicating with other drivers.  Drivemotion is a gadget that allows drivers to communicate via a remote controlled LED display that attaches inside your rear car window.  You can program it to save messages or animations to convey your thoughts by downloading its software from drivemotion.com.  The software allows you to create any message or animation you want, or find other messages and animations in the Drivemotion community.

With Drivemotion Animator, you can now flirt with the cute driver behind you, or flip off the jerk that’s tailing too closely.

RinkuHaus G-Link

This little gadget works just like your garage door opener, but the difference is that you no longer have to fish for your clicker when you want to go in or out of your garage. Just flash your headlights.  Cool huh?

RinkuHaus G-Link is still a Kickstarter project, but there’s a huge chance that this will go into production as many have already shown interest in the device.

RinkuHaus G-Link has a transmitter and receiver.  The transmitter connects to a wire that controls your headlight’s high beams so when you flash your headlights, it will transmit a signal to the receiver that is placed on your garage door.  It features a rolling code technology, so the signal transmitted cannot be stolen. The transmitter can be program with up to five signals so you can command it to perform different actions, an especially useful feature when you have two or more garage doors.

RinkuHaus G-Link is also suitable for office use, or for people with multiple homes.  You can pair up to 20 transmitters to one receiver, or even use a single transmitter to connect with multiple receivers.

Fuse

How many times have you been duped by a mechanic telling you that your car needs an expensive parts replacement when there’s really nothing wrong with it?  Wouldn’t it be nice if your car can tell you what it needs so you can avoid a trip to the auto shop, and stop spending hundreds and even thousands of dollars unnecessarily?  Kickstarter project Fuse aims to do just that.

Fuse is a combination of a mobile app, a device that plugs into your car’s diagnostic outlet, and a personal cloud that connects your car with the rest of your life.  It solves the clues behind your car’s Check Engine light, keep a log of your car expenses, and works with your calendar app to schedule an oil change, tire rotation, registration and inspections.  Fuse will also help you manage fuel costs, protect teen drivers, track trips and even effectively manage car-pooling.
